Whether this is your first pregnancy or your fifth, there's always more to learn and always room for self-confidence in birth to grow.

I started these courses with my fabulous Doula colleague Carla, this is our collective offering to our local community and her knowledge, experience and wisdom run deeply throughout the session content. Many of the reviews here mention her warmth, humour, and passion and it feels right to keep them.

As her family commitments have increased she has felt the need to step back from running the courses with me but was adamant I continue running them to ensure local families can still access vitally important antenatal education.

I enjoyed how intimate the classes were, we formed a great relationship with other members of the class and the lovely Carla and Emma, I felt it was a safe space to ask the ‘silly questions’ that people expect you to know as a first time mum without any judgement... Emma and Carla gave me important knowledge, delivered in a non biased way that has empowered me to feel prepared and confident about what my body can and will do.

"Both Carla and Emma have so much insight and knowledge to share. As someone who hasn't been on this journey before, it's been reassuring to have that space to ask questions and explore different subjects around labour and birth. Your warmth and enthusiasm was inspiring and made us really glad we chose your course. Having plenty of resources to look into outside of the course was really helpful."

Emma and Carla involve the birth partner throughout, which is fantastic. They’re knowledgeable on every topic and patiently answer any questions or concerns. Plus, our sessions are full of helpful information and plenty of laughs... We will miss meeting every week for our sessions, it was a highlight of my week and we feel so glad that we found you both. Highly recommend!

About Me

Emma one of the business owners, she wears a brown jumper and smiles warmly

Hi, I'm Emma and I'm so lucky to have a job that truly feels like soul work!

I'm mum to two wonderful boys, and married to my amazing husband. I couldn't do my job without the support of my family who are so very understanding when it's time for me to whizz off to support a new family at its very beginning.

My main job is as a Birth and Postnatal Doula through Mother's Embrace, and from supporting local families in a one to one capacity I realised there was a gap for the wider community - from that The Birth Ready Company was born!

Through birth work and breastfeeding support I have met and walked alongside so many incredible women and their families. The strength and beauty of the female body in pregnancy and labour is something that will always be awe inspiring to me, and something that feels like the greatest honour to witness and be trusted to support.

Empowering new families through pregnancy, birth, and into postpartum is such passion work for me; and a job which feels like it truly makes a difference!

Understanding your rights and options in labour is so important and, alongside learning skills to prepare for labour and birth, I believe sets the foundations for a positive and empowered experience. Knowing you have ownership over your experience, and having the power of choice can be the difference between a traumatic experience and a positive one.

Matrescence (the transition to motherhood) is monumental and you deserve to have the very best start to that transition, entering this new stage of life feeling informed, supported, and empowered.

FAQ

DSC02841-2.jpg

DSC02873-2.jpg

Why choose this course?

At The Birth Ready Company I believe in you and your ability to birth your baby. I am passionate about supporting and empowering you to shape your own birth journey and have ownership over the whole process as you transition to parenthood.

The information, tools, and skills covered in the course will arm you with everything you need to have a positive birth experience.

I have a wealth of experience supporting parents through pregnancy, labour & birth, and postpartum, so when you book with me you can rest assured you'll receive evidence-based information, tools, and skills which I not only teach to my Doula clients, but also use myself in practice while supporting birth.

What does the course cover?

This fully comprehensive course will prepare you from the last weeks of pregnancy through to the early weeks of parenthood, covering topics including;

- Releasing fear & building trust

- Early signs of labour

- Pain management

- Induction and interventions

- Biomechanics of birth

- Positioning and movement

- Early days of baby

- Infant feeding

And so much more!

You can read more about the course content in the Course Content section

How much does it cost?

The course costs £175 for a 5 week course.

I have aimed to price my courses competitively whilst also ensuring the cost fairly reflects the time, energy, training and commitment it takes to run the course.

There is an optional add-on for a one-off Hypnobirthing zoom taster session which can be added when you book your course, this costs an additional £50

How big are the classes?

There is a maximum class size of five couples, making a total of ten people, plus me. This enables you to meet and connect with other local couples with similar due dates, but keeps the sessions small enough that we can all get to know one another and there is plenty of time for discussion and questions without feeling overwhelmed.

If for any reason the course you book has no other couples booked on, I will contact you to offer a choice of a one-to-one course, or rebooking on an alternative course to enable you to meet others

(I know this is an important part of booking an in-person class).

Which course should I join?

Ideally you will complete your course before reaching 38 weeks. This enables you plenty of time to explore all the resources, dig into the information and ask any questions without any time pressure.

It also means you have time beyond the course to meet with the other couples on your course and continue to build your village of support.

If course dates fall either side of this, I would recommend going for the earlier course to make sure you have time to complete the course before baby arrives!
